James is a military brat. His father served 26 years as an officer in the United States Air Force. James grew up moving every few years to a new city, and he learned to enjoy meeting new friends and seeing new places. His favorite place to live was in West Germany. He earned his bachelors in engineering from LeTourneau University in Longview, TX, in 1992. Ann is a Texas girl. She grew up in a small town and lived in the same house most of her life. She loves to swim, and her favorite job growing up was working as a life guard. She studied elementary education at East Texas Baptist University before finishing her bachelors at Liberty University in 1996.
James first met Ann at a Christian camp in Texas where she was working. Two years later they were engaged and then married in 1993. They have two children, Jacen (1999) and Emilee (2001). James worked for over 10 years at The MITRE Corporation, while Ann taught in two different schools before coming home to raise and homeschool their kids. In 2004 James and Ann moved to Wake Forest, NC, where James earned an MDiv from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. In 2009 the family moved to Thailand to serve as missionaries. Having completed their 2-year term, they are now back in the States. James has served part time as a pastor and preacher, but his day job is once again a software engineer for MITRE. Ann is a homeschool teacher, housewife, and consultant for Norwex.
